Celebrating Creativity at Our Summer Art Exhibition 🖌

Families visiting our Parents' Evening on 7th July were welcomed by a wonderful display of creativity as artwork from every class was showcased in our Summer Art Exhibition.

The exhibition celebrated the imagination and achievements of our pupils, with each class contributing a collection of pieces that reflected their learning, interests and unique artistic styles! From colourful paintings and mixed-media creations to collaborative projects, the displays highlighted the talent, creativity and hard work of our young people.

It was fantastic to see so many parents, carers and family members taking the time to explore the exhibition alongside their Parents' Evening appointments, celebrating the work on display and the progress our pupils have made throughout the year.

A huge well done to all of our pupils and staff for creating such a vibrant exhibition. We are incredibly proud of everything that was displayed and thank everyone who helped make the evening such a success.

Royal Shakespeare Company Workshop 🎭🏀

We were delighted to welcome facilitators from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) into school for an engaging and interactive workshop with our learners. Throughout the session, pupils took part in a variety of fun activities designed to develop important transferable skills such as concentration, balance, communication and spatial awareness. Through ball games, memory challenges, hidden object activities and collaborative tasks, learners were encouraged to work together, think creatively and build confidence in a supportive environment.

The workshop formed part of our valued partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company, giving our learners the opportunity to experience creative approaches to learning while developing skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Following the session, workshop leader Kat shared some wonderful feedback about our students:

"What stood out was the way the group worked together. Even when tasks were new or unfamiliar, there was a willingness to try things out, support one another, and stay involved. That kind of teamwork makes a real difference to how a workshop feels and what it is able to achieve. The skills you showed are absolutely ones that future employers will see and appreciate."

Kat also praised the creativity, focus and thoughtful contributions shown throughout the workshop, adding that it was a pleasure to work with everyone involved. She also thanked our teaching and support staff, commenting that they were "phenomenal to work with" and that they "do your school proud."

We are incredibly proud of how our learners embraced every activity with enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company to provide more exciting opportunities in the future.

Welcombe Hills School Council | Making a Difference Together 📣

We are very proud of a fantastic group of our young learners who have come together to form the Welcombe Hills School Council.

The council is a brilliant opportunity for pupils to share their ideas, have their voices heard, and play an active role in shaping school life. From the beginning, they have shown enthusiasm, confidence, and a lovely sense of responsibility to represent their peers thoughtfully and with pride.

One of their first successes has already made a real difference within the school. After listening to feedback, the School Council identified that the dining hall chairs were no longer fit for purpose. Many were too small and not as sturdy as they needed to be!

The council took this forward and successfully helped secure brand new chairs for the dining hall. Even better, they were involved in choosing the colour themselves. They went for a brilliant, bold blue!

Seeing their ideas listened to and turned into a real, visible change has been such an empowering experience for the group, and a fantastic example of pupil voice in action.

Throughout, the pupils have demonstrated excellent teamwork. They have taken their roles seriously, listened to one another, and spoken up with growing confidence - all skills we are very proud to nurture.

This is just the beginning for our School Council, and we are excited to see what they achieve next. Our learner's voices matter, and they are already proving just how powerful those voices can be.

🎭Our performance of Annie was such an incredible success at the end of last term. We had 56 parents/carers/family members attend the Tuesday performance, and 54 for Wednesday - it was a wonderful turn out!- here are a few examples of the wonderful feedback we have coming in 🎭 - photos to follow

I just wanted to say a huge thank-you for the beautiful performance of Annie. I cried from start to finish for every single young person on that stage. Seeing Zach in his walker was incredible and I could see how much care, energy, love and attention had gone into today. I was so very proud. A huge thank-you to Hannah, it was absolutely wonderful. Thank you to all the staff for their work on this. Thanks again 🎭 Also want to say how amazing Annie was yesterday and how inclusive it was so massive well done to all the staff and Hannah 🎭

Hello Spring! 🌼

The last couple of days have brought a little extra sunshine, a lot of fresh air, and some very happy faces as our young learners made the most of outdoor learning. From exploring, to playing, to just enjoying being outside.

There’s something quite special about this time of year. New beginnings, and lots of opportunities to grow (in more ways than one🌱).

Here’s to lighter days, slightly less muddy shoes, and plenty more outdoor adventures ahead 🌿

Easter fun at our HUB 🐰🐣🎸

Last week, our wonderful young learners over at the HUB absolutely outdid themselves, raising just over £100 in donations through their cake 'sale' and raffle.

They got brilliantly creative, making their own Easter-themed keyrings and colourful sweet bouquets, and somehow managed to gather an impressive stash of chocolatey prizes for the raffle too.

As if that wasn’t enough, the morning was topped off by a fantastic performance their student-formed band who had everyone happily humming along to some well-known tunes. A genuinely lovely way to showcase their confidence and talent (and possibly steal the show just a little bit).

A huge thank-you too the parents and carers that joined us for the morning, the students for being the most perfect hosts and servers, and of course the teachers, TAs and staff who make all these things possible!

Have a look below at their baking brilliance and musical magic… 🍰🎶

🎭Royal Shakespeare Theatre visit - The BFG!🎭

Our students recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Royal Shakespeare Company to watch a stage production of The BFG by Roald Dahl.

The performance brought the much-loved story to life with imaginative staging and wonderful characters, capturing everyone’s attention from start to finish. Many of our pupils were visiting a professional theatre for the first time, making it a truly memorable experience.

We were incredibly proud of their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the day, they were fantastic ambassadors for our school.

🚀KS4 visit to the Aerospace factory in Rugby🚀

As part of our KS4 Careers Curriculum, students recently visited an aerospace manufacturing factory in Rugby to gain first-hand experience of the engineering sector.

During the visit, students toured the factory floor, observed specialist machinery in operation and learned about the range of roles available within aerospace manufacturing. Staff spoke to students about apprenticeships, qualifications and career pathways, helping them to understand the skills and attributes required for employment in this industry.

The trip provided valuable insight into real-world applications of maths, design technology and teamwork, supporting students to make informed choices about their future. We were proud of the mature and respectful manner in which our students represented the school.

Experiences such as this support our commitment to preparing students for adulthood through meaningful, employer-linked careers education.
